Job summary

Mears Installation, LLC is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support Kansas City, MO jobsites. You will work with field crews under the Foreman and Superintendent, operating excavators and related equipment on gas distribution projects.

This year-round role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable performance in outdoor conditions. Starting pay ranges from $29.67 to $32.67 per hour, with overtime, per diem, lodging options, and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license; CDL-A preferred (we help you earn one).
• DOT Medical Card if driving a commercial vehicle.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Keen attention to safety and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, track hoes, backhoes, loaders, and skid steers.
• Prepare and maintain equipment for safe daily operations.
• Perform trench excavation and backfill safely.
• Set and pull shield shoring per OSHA practices.
• Move and drive tractor-trailers or truck-and-trailer combinations.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE per requirements.
• Complete documents related to work, equipment, and safety.
• Assist in securing the work site at shift end.
