Job summary

Spire Alabama is seeking a Construction Crewperson in Birmingham to work on the repair, installation and maintenance of natural gas underground piping. This role is field-based and supports reliable service for our customers.

The position requires physical work, the ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and operation of air tools and light construction equipment. A high school diploma is required, with the ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 120 days; training is provided.

Qualifications

• Must lift up to 100 lbs and handle heavy fittings and tools.
• Able to operate air tools and light construction equipment.
• Read and complete required reports for gas facilities.
• Must adhere to PPE and safety protocols at all times.

Responsibilities

• Excavate main or service pipe, trenches or ditches.
• Backfill ditches and trenches after work.
• Operate air tools and light duty construction equipment.
• Mix and pour concrete and patch street surfaces.
• Perform pipe corrosion protection maintenance and repairs.
• Prepare piping for repair and joining; use respirators as needed.
• Locate piping and validate project scope with team.
• Lead by example in safety, ethics and integrity.
• All other duties as assigned.
