Job summary

Unitil is seeking a Gas Controller to operate the gas transmission and distribution system from in-office control rooms in Exeter, NH, Portsmouth, NH, or Portland, ME. The role requires rotating 12-hour shifts and supports a 24/7/365 operation with strict adherence to PHMSA standards.

Responsibilities include overseeing pipeline scheduling, balancing, and emergency response while maintaining records and communicating with energy contracts and field crews.

Qualifications

• Requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Familiarity with nominations and confirmations procedures for scheduling pipeline gases.
• Knowledge of SCADA system operation and its interaction with field equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Operate gas transmission and distribution systems safely and reliably within codes and tariffs.
• Monitor alarms, respond, and coordinate with field personnel during emergencies.
• Provide and adjust volumes with gas acquisitions, marketers, and suppliers.
• Maintain city-gate balancing and meet daily/monthly targets.
