Job summary

NorthStar Energy Solutions, a Quanta Services, Inc. company, seeks a Skilled Laborer to support gas construction and maintenance, including mains, service lines, and related equipment. This hands-on field role reports to crew leaders and foremen, ensuring safe, code-compliant work.

Based at Grand Prairie, TX, you will work Monday–Friday with on-call, overtime, and weekend availability as needed, travel locally, and join a team committed to safety and reliability in energy infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• OSHA 10/30 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
• Operator Qualification (OQ) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 75+ pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces.
• Willingness to travel locally between job sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of natural gas mains and service lines.
• Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, and site restoration per standards.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment used in gas construction.
• Assist with pipe fusion, joining, tie-ins, and tapping operations under supervision.
• Locate and protect existing underground utilities prior to and during excavation.
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to/from job sites.
• Set up and maintain traffic control, barricades, and work zone safety measures.
• Assist with pressure testing, purging, and leak surveys on gas piping systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site; follow safety policies and regulations.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

OSHA 10/30 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain

Operator Qualification (OQ) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within defined timeframe

Valid driver’s license required; CDL considered a plus

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly; up to 75+ pounds occasionally

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and on uneven terrain

Willingness to travel locally between job sites
