Job summary

BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity as a Compressor Station Operator at our Borger Station in Ithaca, NY. You will start, stop, and operate engines and compressors, record readings, and perform routine maintenance to keep the station running safely and efficiently.

The role requires three months of mechanical experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. You may work with varied equipment and participate in training and testing as part of ongoing safety

Qualifications

• Three months documented mechanical experience in industrial equipment, compressors, pumps, engines or related natural gas roles.
• Documented computer skills and the ability to operate control systems.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and operate equipment up to 90 pounds.
• Climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces; crawl or work in restricted spaces.
• Testing required, including cognitive online testing.

Responsibilities

• Start, stop, and operate engines, compressors, and auxiliary equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Maintain station equipment including water/oil levels, temperatures and pressures.
• Take and record readings like pressures, temperatures, volumes, run hours.
• Perform routine maintenance such as painting, cleaning, and ground care.
• Operate station controls, adjust pressures, route gas, and prepare written reports.
• Ensure a safe operating environment and secure tools and equipment.
