Job summary

USA Compression is seeking a Field Service Technician to maintain natural gas compression equipment in assigned territory, performing preventive maintenance, startups, and repairs to maximize uptime. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, ability to read manuals and schematics, and the ability to work independently in outdoor field conditions, including overtime and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in engines, rotating equipment, or heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on natural gas compression equipment, including engines, compressors, coolers, and associated components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct engine overhauls, compressor rebuilds, and component replacements as needed.
• Complete startups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities safely and efficiently.
• Monitor equipment performance and operating conditions; identify and elevate abnormal trends.
• Works overtime and is available for on-call rotations. Overtime and on-call requirements include work after regular work hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with USA Compression standards, OEM specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Responsible for submitting accurate maintenance reports, expense reports, timesheets and other necessary paperwork daily.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental guidelines.
• Participate in safety meetings, audits, and required training.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports, work orders, and parts usage.
• Serve as the primary field contact for customers, providing professional communication and timely updates.
• Coordinate with operations, logistics, and engineering teams to support equipment needs.
• Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment in clean, safe working condition.
