Paylocity is seeking a Garnishment Services Specialist Level I to support garnishment services for clients. The role requires reading court orders, setting up garnishments with calculation codes, and managing prorations for multiple child supports.

This is an on-site position located in Schaumburg, IL, with five days per week in the office. Responsibilities include maintaining garnishment rules, handling e-file documents, and ensuring compliance with state, federal laws.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum one year in a client-facing role, payroll, accounting, garnishment processing, or taxes in a customer service or call center environment.
  • Preferred experience as Paylocity account manager or implementation consultant.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to a changing business environment.
  • Understanding and applying garnishment laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain garnishment rules in the system per state rules and garnishment type.
  • Maintain garnishment data with start/stop dates for each order and process all wage garnishments.
  • Process e-file documents to courts as applicable.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and collaborate with Account Managers to resolve issues.
  • Identify problems and provide solutions for clients using available resources.
  • Provide professional updates to stakeholders on progress and status.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Validate garnishment orders for compliance with laws.
  • Guide clients on garnishment compliance best practices and Paylocity product fit.
  • Manage calls and metrics for emerging markets and major clients with appropriate response times.
  • Review the GMS Community page and Teams Channel for resolutions and best practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.

Position Overview

The Garnishment Services Specialist Level I (GSS I) is responsible for providing support for Paylocity’s clients that subscribe to the garnishment service (excluding emerging markets). The role includes reading and interpreting court orders, setting up garnishments with correct calculation codes, scheduling welcome client calls, and entering multiple child supports with prorations.

Location & Work Hours

This is a 100% in‑office role located in one of Paylocity’s U.S. offices: Meridian, ID; Rochester, NY; or Schaumburg, IL. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Candidates must work on‑site five days per week during designated hours.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain garnishment rules in the system to determine proper withholding from employee wages according to state rules and garnishment type.
  • Maintain employee garnishment data with accurate start and stop dates for each order and process all types of wage garnishments (child support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, and state and federal tax levies).
  • Process e‑file documents to courts as applicable.
  • Respond promptly to client garnishment inquiries and partner with Account Managers to resolve issues.
  • Proactively identify problems and use available resources to provide appropriate solutions for clients.
  • Provide professional internal and external communication and progress updates to all stakeholders.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Validate garnishment orders and writs for compliance with local, state, federal laws and regulations.
  • Guide clients on garnishment compliance best practices, organizational change management, and Paylocity product fit.
  • Manage calls and metrics for emerging markets, mid, and major clients with appropriate response times and DOCC client service experience.
  • Review the GMS Community page and GMS Teams Channel for resolution to client issues and best practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee information.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a client‑facing role, payroll, accounting, finance, garnishment processing, or taxes in a customer service or shared services call center environment.
  • Preferred experience in a Paylocity account manager or implementation consultant role.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‑building, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to a changing business environment.

  • Understanding, interpreting, and applying legal mandates related to garnishment laws and regulations.
  • General knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and garnishment laws.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods; requires a desk or workstation for 7–8 hours a day.
  • Use of computer and phone systems; must operate multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
Benefits and Compensation

Base pay range: $34,000–$55,000, with actual compensation based on knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) match, along with other perks available at the location where the position is performed.
