Job summary

Chestnut Inn is seeking an experienced Groundskeeper to maintain outdoor spaces across multiple gardens and lawns. You will operate mowers, tractors, leaf blowers and irrigation systems, performing pruning, mowing, weed control, and seasonal maintenance.

The role requires physical fitness, ability to handle heavy machinery, and a positive, team‑oriented attitude. Weekend and holiday work is expected, with a flexible schedule and collaboration with garden design and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of proven experience in a similar groundskeeping role preferred.
• Able to handle a range of horticultural and lawn machinery and powered hand and riding tools.
• Basic knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with team and supervisors.
• Solid understanding of health and safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and grow the garden to meet specific requirements and expectations.
• Perform pruning, mowing, weed control, and leaf removal.
• Plant and nurture trees, flowers, and other plants.
• Mow, edge, fertilize, water, and aerate lawns; trim hedges and trees.
• Install and maintain irrigation systems; schedule watering for plant health.
• Safely apply pesticides and herbicides; manage plant diseases.
• Prepare soil, apply mulch, and maintain landscape beds.
• Operate garden equipment like mowers and tractors; keep gear in good condition.
• Report equipment issues and safety concerns to supervisors.
• Coordinate with landscaping professionals and assist with inventories and orders.
