Responsibilities & Requirements

• The Gardener II supports a safe, welcoming, and healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining the grounds and landscaped areas of Kettering Health facilities.
• This role ensures the appearance and safety of outdoor spaces through routine care, seasonal maintenance, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to four years of experience in nursery, greenhouse, or professional gardening, landscaping, or grounds maintenance.
• Valid driver's license.
• If applying restricted-use pesticides, must obtain a Commercial Applicator License (Ornamental Plant and Shade Tree Pest Control category) from the Ohio Department of Agriculture within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or certification in horticulture, arboriculture, floriculture, entomology, or plant pathology.
• Experience working in a healthcare, institutional, or campus setting.
• Current Commercial Applicator License (Ornamental Plant and Shade Tree Pest Control category) from the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
