The Garden Technician is responsible for creating a weed free, neat, tidy garden and site clean up.
- Chemical free hand weeding with focus on removal of roots with attached weeds.
- Deadheading spent blooms.
- Pruning lower level dead branches on shrubs and bushes as well as removing cross branches.
- Showcasing gardens.
- Hedge trimming.
- Unloading topsoil.
- Applying pre-emergent weed deterrents.
- Removing existing gardens and individual plants and bushes.
- Planting new gardens.
- Using spades, hand pruners, flower snippers, shears, loppers, shovels, rakes, hedge trimmers, blowers and other garden related tools.
- Installing soaker/drip hose systems.
- General seasonal yard clean up of leaves, branches and debris.
- Loading garden debris into contractor bags or trailer.
- Assisting with offload of debris at dump sites.
- Watering.
- Use blower for driveway and sidewalk clean up.
- Tracking and reporting arrival and departure times.
- Submitting timesheets.
Qualifications
- Must possess a United States Social Security Number, a State Issued photo ID and be a citizen of the United States or have an unexpired Green card.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Must have attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Must have the ability to work independently without supervision.
- Gardening experience not required but must WANT to learn!
- Must be able to tolerate working in an outside environment, temperature fluctuations, working in dirt and mulch, and everything that comes with gardening!
- Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, twist, bend, stretch, reach above your head with hand tools, and walk distances.
- Must be able to dig, rake, snip flowers, cut overhead branches, load debris into a trailer and dig holes.
- Must have the ability to handle a blower, hedge trimmer and other gardening tools.
- Must have the ability to handle a wheelbarrow and pitchfork.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
