Job summary

Eastern-Land-Management- in Stamford, CT is seeking a dedicated Gardener to maintain beautiful landscapes across client properties. You will perform planting, pruning, mowing, irrigation assistance, and general groundskeeping, applying safety practices and working outdoors in various weather.

This hands-on role values reliability, attention to detail, and teamwork. Previous landscaping experience is helpful but not required; training may be provided.

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate landscaping equipment, power tools, and hand tools safely.
  • Basic knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, and general horticultural practices.

Job description

Join a dedicated team responsible for creating and maintaining beautiful, healthy, and well-kept landscapes for clients. As a Gardener, you will perform hands-on landscape maintenance, horticultural care, planting, pruning, and groundskeeping across a variety of outdoor environments. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in the appearance of landscapes, and wants to contribute directly to creating attractive and well-maintained properties.

Responsibilities
  • Plant, transplant, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, perennials, and other landscape plants.
  • Maintain planting beds through regular weeding, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and general care.
  • Perform seasonal planting and maintenance of flowers and other landscape materials.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of landscape plans.
  • Prune shrubs, trees, and other woody plants to promote healthy growth and maintain appearance.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other landscape treatments in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, raking, blowing, and other general grounds maintenance as needed.
  • Remove litter, leaves, branches, and other landscape debris to keep properties clean and presentable.
  • Assist with irrigation and watering of plants, lawns, and landscaped areas.
  • Maintain lawns, planting beds, athletic fields, and other landscaped areas as assigned.
  • Assist with snow removal and other seasonal grounds maintenance activities.
  • Properly clean, maintain, and store tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and equipment procedures while performing work.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding site conditions, maintenance needs, and completed work.
  • Assist with training or directing other team members when needed.
  • Perform other landscape and grounds maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, snow, and cold temperatures.
  • Ability to operate landscaping equipment, power tools, and hand tools safely.
  • Basic knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, and general horticultural practices.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining attractive, healthy landscapes.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and properly handle fertilizers, pesticides, and other landscape materials.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to follow direction.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Previous landscaping, gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance experience preferred but may not be required.

Offered compensation: $18/hr - $20/hr
