Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden is seeking an Assistant Educator for the Edible Academy School Programs. You will assist with developing and facilitating school programs, coordinating garden workshops, and supporting educators through the 2026-2027 school year.

You will work in a team environment to prepare materials, guide students from Pre K to 5th grade, and help manage classrooms and garden spaces during sessions, typically Tuesday to Friday mornings.

Qualifications

• Previous garden-based education or teaching experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Strong foundational knowledge in natural sciences.
• Experience working with groups of children and managing classroom and outdoor settings.
• Prepared to work in a collaborative team setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, logistics, and facilitation of school programs at the Edible Academy.
• Work with Garden Educators to introduce lessons in natural, social, culinary sciences, math, and ELA through gardening workshops.
• Share grade specific units of study across multiple garden workshops for Pre K–5th grade.
• Help prepare gardens and classrooms, arrange supplies, tools, and collateral for workshops.
• participate in daily meetings and seasonal professional learning workshops.
