Job summary

Gardens Alive!’s Williston location in Vermont seeks a General Manager to lead the flagship garden center and wholesale business. You will drive sales, profitability, talent development, merchandising, and customer experience while partnering with Retail and Home Office teams.

You will use performance data, customer insights, and sound judgment to identify opportunities, set priorities, and turn strategy into action, balancing seasonal demands with long-term growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive leadership in a high-volume retail environment with financial responsibility.
• Garden center, nursery, horticulture, or related experience preferred.
• Ability to analyze performance and translate insights into action.
• Strong commercial sense, merchandising instincts, and customer service focus.
• Proven ability to recruit, develop, coach, and retain talent; able to lead through change.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and business reporting systems; flexible retail scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Own the financial performance of the Williston location and drive growth in retail and wholesale.
• Lead talent development, merchandising, customer experience, and store operations.
• Set priorities using data, customer insights, and governance with Retail and Home Office teams.
• Ensure compelling product presentation, pricing, and seasonal readiness; optimize inventory and margins.
