Job summary

Milwaukee Transport Services Inc. (Milwaukee County Transit System) is seeking a Garage Shift Supervisor to oversee daily maintenance and garage operations at an assigned transit facility, ensuring buses are safe, reliable, and available for scheduled service.

You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs, and ensure accurate documentation for regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a mechanic or in a maintenance setting.
• Valid Class D Wisconsin Driver’s License (non-probationary).
• Valid Class B CDL with P endorsement or ability to obtain CDL permit.
• Associate's Degree in Automotive Maintenance preferred.
• Two years of supervisory or foreman experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily maintenance operations to ensure buses are safe, reliable, and available for scheduled service.
• Manages maintenance activities supporting fleet availability and pull-outs to meet daily service requirements.
• Provides coaching and performance feedback to maintenance staff and ensures pull-out and fleet availability targets.
• Enforces labor agreements and disciplinary procedures; monitors shop productivity and overtime usage.
• Investigates accidents, road calls, and equipment failures while ensuring compliance with FTA/DOT/OSHA safety regulations.
