Description

Position Summary:

The Garage Operations Personnel position is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with the daily operation of the parking facility, processing parking payments, monitoring garage entrances and exits, and maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for customers and staff.

This position requires an individual who is dependable, professional, customer-service oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced parking environment. The employee will serve as a primary point of contact for customers and is expected to represent the parking operator and client in a courteous and professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Cashiering
  • Greet and assist customers entering and exiting the parking facility.
  • Answer customer questions regarding parking rates, payment methods, facility policies, and directions.
  • Collect and accurately process parking fees through credit/debit cards or other approved payment methods.
  • Operate parking revenue equipment, cashiering systems, handheld devices, and other technology as required.
  • Issue receipts and assist customers with payment or ticketing issues.
  • Escalate customer complaints, equipment issues, or unusual situations to management when appropriate.
Gate & Garage Operations
  • Monitor and operate parking garage gates, access control equipment, ticket dispensers, and exit equipment.
  • Assist customers with lost tickets, malfunctioning equipment, access issues, and other parking-related concerns.
  • Monitor garage entrances and exits to help maintain an orderly flow of traffic.
  • Assist with traffic control during periods of high volume, special events, or unusual circumstances.
  • Monitor the facility for unauthorized parking, suspicious activity, safety hazards, or other operational concerns.
  • Follow established procedures for emergency situations and notify management or emergency personnel when necessary.
  • Perform routine inspections of parking equipment and report malfunctions promptly.
Cleaning & Maintenance
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the parking garage and surrounding areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, litter removal, trash collection, restroom checks, and cleaning of customer-service areas.
  • Identify and report maintenance, lighting, plumbing, security, or safety issues.
  • Assist with minor routine maintenance tasks that are within the employee's training and capabilities.
  • Help maintain parking equipment, signs, gates, pay stations, and other facility assets in clean and operational condition.
  • Place cones, barricades, signage, or other equipment as directed.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area at all times.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all company, client, facility, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents, incidents, customer injuries, property damage, and other safety concerns immediately.
  • Assist with maintaining clear fire lanes, pedestrian areas, entrances, exits, and emergency access routes.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow safe work practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company, client, and customer information.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in parking, cashiering, customer service, hospitality, facilities, security, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Strong customer-service and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately handle and operate basic computer and payment systems.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous when dealing with difficult or upset customers.
  • Basic mechanical and maintenance skills are helpful.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to routinely lift and carry items weighing up to approximately 25–50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform routine cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work in a parking garage environment with exposure to vehicle traffic, noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to safely navigate stairs, ramps, and other areas of the parking facility.
Work Environment

This position may require working nights, weekends, holidays, and during special events depending on the operating schedule of the parking facility. Employees may spend portions of their shift both inside the garage and outdoors at entrances, exits, or surrounding parking areas.

The successful candidate will:
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service.
  • Maintain accurate and accountable handling of parking revenue.
  • Keep the facility clean, safe, and presentable.
  • Respond promptly to customer and operational needs.
  • Identify and report equipment, maintenance, and safety issues.
  • Follow established operating procedures and instructions from management.
  • Represent the parking operator and client in a professional manner.
