Job summary

CONNECTICUT NATURAL GAS CORPORATION is seeking a Union - Garage Mechanic in East Hartford, CT. The role offers an hourly rate of $44.43–$52.14 and involves diagnosing defects, performing repairs, and maintaining records for automotive and CNG equipment.

The position requires vocational vehicle maintenance training, a valid MVD license, and a good driving record, with work safety and DOT safety sensitivity noted. Training on hazardous waste handling provided.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must have ability to work safely, and the physical ability to perform required work on motor vehicles, construction equipment and other machinery.
• Must have prior vocational training and experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must have a valid MVD license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Locate defects in automotive, construction and other equipment.
• Inspect, adjust and make repairs as directed.
• Assist in keeping computerized records of inspection, maintenance and inventory.
• Perform body repair and maintenance work on automotive equipment.
• Perform any work related to automotive and construction equipment.
• May be required to maintain, service and repair equipment related to the operation and fueling of compressed natural gas vehicles, including compressors, and filling station equipment.
• May be required to perform certified warranty work for a number of vehicle manufacturers.
• Perform related duties as required.
• May involve handling hazardous waste. Training will be provided by the Company to meet requirements of 40 CFR 265.16.
