Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a Union - Garage Mechanic in East Hartford, CT, to inspect, diagnose and repair automotive and construction equipment, including CNG vehicles and fueling station gear. You will locate defects, perform repairs and maintain digital records of service and inventory.

The role requires reading and speaking English, following instructions, and a valid MVD license with a clean driving record. Training will be provided, and this is a DOT safety sensitive position with potential

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Safe work ability and physical capability to service motor vehicles and equipment.
• Prior vocational training and experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Valid MVD license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Locate defects in automotive, construction and other equipment.
• Inspect, adjust and make repairs as directed.
• Assist in keeping computerized records of inspection, maintenance and inventory.
• Perform body repair and maintenance work on automotive equipment.
• Perform any work related to automotive and construction equipment.
• May be required to maintain, service and repair equipment related to the operation and fueling of compressed natural gas vehicles, including compressors, and filling station equipment.
• May be required to perform certified warranty work for a number of vehicle manufacturers.
• Perform related duties as required.
• May involve handling hazardous waste.
• Training will be provided by the Company to meet requirements of 40 CFR 265.16.

Hourly rate: $44.43-$52.14

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to read, write and speak English effectively.
• Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must have ability to work safely, and the physical ability to perform required work on motor vehicles, construction equipment and other machinery.
• Must have prior vocational training and experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Must have a valid MVD license and a good driving record.
