Job summary

Monrovia Plants in Dayton, Oregon is seeking a seasoned Garage Department Manager to lead a multi-shop operation including mechanical, fabrication, and tire repair facilities. You will implement a nursery-wide preventive maintenance program to reduce repair costs and drive cost-saving opportunities.

The role requires 3+ years in garage maintenance with supervisory experience, strong leadership, and the ability to plan, execute, and forecast departmental needs while ensuring compliance with

Qualifications

• 3 years' minimum experience in Garage maintenance or similar position.
• Managerial experience with departmental planning and budgeting is preferred.
• Experience or knowledge in the repair of diesel and gas engines preferred.
• Experience or knowledge in metal fabrication preferred.
• Experience in preventative maintenance programs for large operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and achieving the location's operating plan, analyzing, evaluating, and adjusting it to achieve established business objectives.
• Achieve Action Plans as assigned.
• Lead by example the implementation of the MNQ philosophy.
• Focus on our customers' needs by providing equipment and services needed to achieve desired work completion on time and support the needs to keep nursery production running efficiently.
• Explore and develop innovations and profitable new business opportunities within the nursery.
• Ensure that all departmental activities are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws.
• Coordinates and allocates necessary resources.
• Utilizing MNQ Lean Six Sigma explores business opportunities for process improvements using industry innovations.
• Coordinates Requisitions and directs work by specific craftsman.
• Facilitates Oracle Maintenance work orders and their completion.
• Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned.

Direct use of metal fabrication shop for innovative and cost saving opportunities and repair of existing equipment.

Employment Status:

Employment is full-time, Salary exempt from overtime

Shift:

Morning shift between 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday - Saturday, hours are subject to change based on business need.

Who You Are

You…

• 3 years' minimum experience in Garage maintenance or similar position.

• Experience or knowledge in the repair of diesel and gas engines preferred.
• Experience or knowledge in metal fabrication preferred.
• Experience in preventative maintenance programs for large operations preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Planning, executing, and meeting project / company goals.
• Ability to generate and submit timely information.
• Ability to work in a diverse work force and team environment.
• Willingness to learn and implement Monrovia Nursery Quality standards.
• Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills
• Manual and auto computer reading skills desired.
• Bilingual skills helpful, but not required (English/Spanish)
• Computer literacy sufficient to access and use relevant programs. (Word, Excel, Oracle)
• Self-motivated, dependable, organized, flexible and ability to work with minimal or no supervision in a multi-task environment.
• Ability to learn new skills and teach them to others.
• Ability to work well with a diverse work force in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to plan, execute, and rally team to meet team and company goals.
• Able to generate and submit timely information.
• Valid state issued driver's license.
