Job description

This role does not replace qualified outside counsel. It owns day-to-day implementation, documentation, monitoring, escalation, and cross-functional coordination so that legal advice and provider requirements become working operational controls.

What you will own
  • Maintain jurisdiction, eligibility, age, identity, redemption, and responsible-play operating requirements.
  • Coordinate payment-provider onboarding, monitoring, disputes, chargebacks, reconciliation, and escalation.
  • Operate KYC, AML-related, sanctions, fraud, account-review, and suspicious-activity workflows as applicable.
  • Translate legal and provider requirements into documented product and support procedures.
  • Maintain compliance evidence, control inventories, issue logs, decision records, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Review promotions, bonus mechanics, communications, and redemption processes for operational compliance concerns.
  • Partner with engineering to define access controls, monitoring, alerts, case-management tools, and administrative safeguards.
  • Train support and operations staff on escalation and documentation standards.
  • Relevant experience in gaming, fintech, payments, fraud, compliance operations, risk, or another regulated consumer environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn policy or legal requirements into repeatable operating processes.
  • Strong documentation, investigation, judgment, and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Comfort working directly with founders, engineers, vendors, and outside professionals.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with social or sweepstakes gaming, money transmission, card processing, KYC vendors, chargebacks, responsible gaming, or promotional compliance.
  • Familiarity with state-by-state product restrictions and rapidly changing regulatory environments.
  • Experience building an operational compliance program at a startup.
Proposed compensation

Contractor engagement: you set your own hours, work from anywhere in the United States, and supply your own equipment. There is no fixed schedule and no required location beyond being able to overlap US time zones when a handoff or incident needs it. Contractor engagements do not include employee benefits. Timing and final classification will be agreed before an offer.

A good-faith range for this posting. The final offer depends on experience and scope.
