Job description

1. About FunBloom

FunBloom is an AI-native game studio founded beginning in 2026 by veterans from Ubisoft, Netflix, and Amazon. We work hands-on and iterate fast, and we expect our engineers to own their work from prototype to shipped product.

We are looking for a Game Engineer who wants to help build that future with us.

This is a rare opportunity to join early, work directly with the founders, and have a meaningful hand in shaping both our first game and the technology foundation behind it. You will help define gameplay systems, influence technical direction, and contribute to a product vision that blends strong gamecraft with cutting-edge AI.

OUR OPERATING PHILOSOPHY:

"AI FOR SPEED. HUMAN FOR QUALITY."
We combine decades of AAA/AA production expertise with custom AI-assisted pipelines (DevBloom, FBEngine) to iterate rapidly, maintain low structural overhead, and deliver top-tier player experiences without heavy permanent studio bloat.

What we value

We value engineers who are not just strong technically, but who also care deeply about the player experience. We are looking for builders who can move fast, think clearly, collaborate well, and bring a high level of ownership to their work.

At FunBloom, you will not be one engineer among many. You will be part of the core team helping define what the company becomes.

2. The Role

We are looking for a versatile, experienced Game Engineer who excels in both Unity and Unreal Engine and who treats AI as a core part of how games get built.
In this role, you will not just build traditional game mechanics; you will bridge game engines with production-grade GenAI pipelines (LLM dialogue systems, dynamic prompt/image generation, companion tech, and custom AI tools). You will work directly alongside our CTO/CPO and creative leadership to prototype, build, and ship titles across mobile, PC, console, and connected platforms.

Location: USA and Canada only

  • Collaborate closely with founders, designers, and artists to rapidly prototype and iterate
  • Help define scalable technical architecture for gameplay, tools, and content systems
  • Optimize game systems for performance, stability, and maintainability
  • Contribute to a fast-moving development environment where smart tradeoffs and execution matter
  • Potentially work on systems connected to AI-driven behaviors, dialogue, and dynamic content
4. Required Qualifications
  • 5–10 years of professional experience in game development
  • Strong proficiency in both Unity (C#) and Unreal Engine (C++)
  • Hands-on experience building gameplay systems such as player mechanics, UI, state machines, interactions, AI, or progression systems
  • Solid understanding of game architecture patterns such as component-based design, event systems, and data-driven systems
  • Ability to write code with Cursor that are solid and well architected.
  • Experience contributing to or shipping at least one game or real-time interactive product
  • Ability to implement features end-to-end, from design intent to polished in-game result
  • Experience debugging and optimizing performance across CPU, memory, and rendering
  • Familiarity with cross-platform development on PC and/or mobile
  • Expert using Git and Perforce
  • Strong collaboration skills with designers and artists in an iterative workflow
  • Writes clean, maintainable, production-quality code
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
5. Nice to Haves
  • Experience with AI-driven systems such as NPC behavior, dialogue systems, LLM integration, or dynamic content systems
  • Familiarity with backend services and APIs such as REST, WebSockets, AWS, or Supabase

  • Passion for cozy, simulation, or character-driven games
  • Curiosity about emerging tools and technologies, especially GenAI and procedural systems
