Job summary

Independent Living, Inc. is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist focusing on gambling harms. The role provides peer-based recovery support, education, advocacy, and outreach within the Recovery Community Outreach Center and community settings.

You will engage individuals, facilitate sessions, and connect people with prevention, treatment, and recovery resources while adhering to OASAS guidelines. This position is full-time and based in Chappaqua, NY with a 9am-5pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Personal lived experience with gambling harm and a commitment to supporting others in recovery.
• Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with individuals, referral sources, clinicians, and community organizations.
• Understanding of recovery-oriented systems of care and harm reduction principles.
• Willingness to obtain CRPA/CRPA-P/CARC certification if not yet certified.

Responsibilities

• Engage with individuals in recovery-focused settings and support recovery journeys.
• Facilitate one-on-one peer recovery support sessions.
• Lead educational groups on gambling harms prevention and recovery options.
• Support development of peer groups within the center and community.
• Conduct community outreach and educate about gambling harms and resources.
• Complete required documentation and monthly reporting per OASAS requirements.
