MICA Steelworks is seeking a Galvanizing Material Handler in Kaufman, Texas. This role involves storing, moving, and distributing materials in a structured work environment to minimize safety risks. Responsibilities include operating forklifts and cranes and ensuring material accuracy.
The position requires a high school diploma, safety certifications, and offers a pay rate of $19.00 per hour. Ideal candidates will have experience in the steel industry and be prepared to work in various weather conditions.
The Galvanizing Material Handler is responsible for storing, moving, handling and distributing materials. They take materials from one location to another and may be involved in the process of extracting and loading the materials to be transported. A materials handler has a very structured work environment to minimize safety risks. Each job is planned in detail and safety issues are addressed before a job begins. Working as a materials handler doesn’t require formal education but does entail extensive on-the-job training. Multiple vacancies are available.
Location: MICA Steelworks – Kaufman, Texas
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Hours: 5 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday; Weekends as needed. Overtime hours available.
High School diploma or equivalent, required. Experience in working in steel industry or galvanizing, plus. Ability to be forklift and overhead crane certified and operate a forklift and overhead crane. (Forklift experience required).
The position is a shop floor and yard position. Works primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors and chemicals. Must have good hand-eye coordination and motor skills. We have a positive / professional company culture that supports long-term employees.
Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform physical activities requiring substantial use of arms and legs and movement of the entire body, including climbing, lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, crawling and handling of materials. Must have manual dexterity and safety-mindedness. Ability to operate ladders, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. Able to work in open environments for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures, with the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods and observe information from relevant sources.
