FRANK Gallery in Carrboro, NC is seeking a proactive Gallery Manager to oversee daily operations, customer service, and community engagement. This on-site role focuses on growing the gallery's audience, ensuring professional experiences for visitors, donors, and event attendees.

You will manage finances with the bookkeeper, supervise interns and volunteers, plan and execute events, and help expand fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with art gallery operations or nonprofit work is a plus.

  • Basic accounting experience, includes maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Experience with QuickBooks online, and website management systems is a plus.

  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in event planning and customer service roles with retail experience.
  • Proficiency in social media, event management tools, and standard office software.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement procedures to ensure the gallery runs efficiently.
  • Grow and develop the gallery; plan fundraising and donor development.
  • Serve as the public face; build relationships with stakeholders.

Job description

Position OverviewWe are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Gallery Manager to provide excellent customer service, and oversee the operations and development of one of the best fine art galleries in the Triangle. While this role does not deal with curation and artist development, it is essential for ensuring that FRANK Gallery advances its mission as a fine art gallery and arts education organization. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation: Create and implement procedures that ensure the gallery runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Focus on the gallery’s growth and development. Have a long-term view and create a sustainable and profitable gallery. Create and help execute ideas on fundraising and donor development.
  • Serve as the public face of the gallery: Publicly communicate the gallery’s vision effectively and build relationships with key stakeholders and the community.
  • Customer Service: Engage with gallery visitors, collectors, and event attendees, providing a warm and professional experience that fosters connections and supports gallery sales.
  • Manage the gallery’s finances: This includes creating and managing budgets, monitoring performance, and making important financial decisions. Work with our bookkeeper to manage and record sales and payments, accounts payable, bills and invoices.
  • Supervise staffing: This includes overseeing the work of interns, volunteers and coordinating with the member artists.
  • Event Planning and Execution: Take the lead in organizing and growing the gallery’s events, from concept to execution, including scheduling staff/volunteers, managing logistics, and ensuring high-quality experiences for attendees.
  • Serve on committees: Support and develop the gallery's outreach initiatives and other internal functions trough committee work.
  • Report to the Board of Directors and Membership: Keep the Board of Directors and the gallery’s Artist Membership updated on the operational status of the gallery.

Additional Information:
  • Reporting Structure: Reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Work Environment: Primarily on-site, Tuesday-Saturday (flexible) as well as occasional evening and weekend hours for events.
  • Employment Type: Part-time (asking for 24 - 30 hours per week).
  • Salaried position: $26,000 to $35,000 annually depending on experience and schedule.
