Jack S Blanton Museum of Art is seeking a Gallery Assistant (Part-time) to help protect the university's collections and ensure a positive visitor experience. The role involves security patrols, guiding visitors, and coordinating with staff during events on UT Austin's campus.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, calm performance under pressure, and teamwork. Evening/weekend availability is expected with a 19-hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and ability to interact with the public.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment and multitask in galleries.

Responsibilities

• Assist in securing the Blanton by monitoring collections, visitors, and galleries.
• Perform interior patrols during public hours and address behavior calmly.
• Provide clear guidance to ensure a positive visitor experience.
• Share knowledge of exhibitions and events with visitors.
• Deliver excellent customer service with a courteous manner.
• Report missing/damaged objects and any unusual conditions to supervisors.
• Follow security procedures for opening/closing and art activation.
• Act as first responder during emergencies and help evacuations.
