Job summary

The City of Carlsbad, Library & Cultural Arts Department, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant (Gallery Attendant) to work in the William D. Cannon Art Gallery. You will greet visitors, provide information, and ensure a positive gallery experience, including public inquiries by phone, email, or in person.

Hours may include evenings and weekends; position caps at 20 hours per week. Prior gallery or arts experience is preferred; MS Office skills are necessary.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Open, close gallery according to schedule.
• Greet visitors to the gallery, offer information, answer questions.
• Familiarity with exhibition.
• Uphold department policies, procedures and conduct rules.
• Exercise sound judgement and work independently.
• Respond to inquiries from public, city staff, artists and partners.
• Event and program assistance; logistics, planning, supplies, and events.
• Assist with research related to exhibits.
• Assist Cultural Arts staff with additional assignments as needed.
