  • Follows procedures as set forth in the Post Orders manual and provides clear information to the public.
  • Monitors and inputs information into the Museum’s Fire and Security computer system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Visitation Supervisor or Visitation Manager.

Title: Gallery AttendantDepartment: Protective ServicesReports To: Director of Protective ServicesJob Type: Part-time | TemporaryPay: $14. 00/Hourly, Non-ExemptSan Antonio Museum of Art seeks a Full-Time Gallery Attendant to work in galleries of the Museum. Ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and must enjoy interacting with the public. Position requires willingness to stand for long periods of time. Schedule will include holidays, weekends, and evening hours. Must be flexible and work scheduled shifts. Prior customer service and security related experience is preferred; interest in art and enthusiasm for interacting with visitors is required.Primary Duties:Observes and patrols Museum facilities to safeguard and protect assets, staff, public and collection.Reports unusual, suspicious, or unsafe situations to supervisor, acts accordingly to supervisor instructions or set procedures.Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, assessing situations and taking appropriate action.Follows procedures as set forth in the Post Orders manual.Issues courteous, concise, and clear information to the public to provide for a safe and secure Museum experience.Monitors and inputs information into the Museum’s Fire and Security computer system.Performs other duties as assigned by the Visitation Supervisor or Visitation Manager.Working Conditions:Normal museum environment.Occasional outdoor duty around the museum campusMinimum Qualifications:Must be available to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet operational demands.Ability to handle conflicts or difficult situations with professionalism and tact.Excellent observation skills with the ability to quickly identify potential security threats.Excellent surveillance skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective incident reporting and customer interactions.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high volume of alertness.Physical Requirements:The physical requirements of the position described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform successfully.Occasionally required to lift, drag and/or move up to 35lbs.Body agility and equilibrium involved in activities such as walking, climbing, and balancing.Back and leg coordination involved in activities such as stooping, kneeling, bending, squatting, crawling, and crouchingArm, hand, and finger dexterity with at least one hand involved in activities such as reaching, handling, and feeling.Good speaking and hearing ability, and good eyesight.Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.Physical ability to climb stairs and work in a multi-level building.About the San Antonio Museum of ArtThe San Antonio Museum of Art serves as a forum to explore and connect with art that spans the world’s geographies, artistic periods, genres, and cultures.
