BlockReel is seeking an experienced Gaffer for a determined three-day music video shoot in Florida. The role requires coordinating with the DP to craft lighting designs that fuse vibrant performances with stylish narratives, on both studio and on-location sets.

The candidate should bring extensive gaffing experience in music videos or commercials, a strong grasp of lighting techniques, and the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

Our independent production is assembling a nimble crew for an exciting music video project, and we need a seasoned Gaffer to light our vision. This project is for a well-known Latin artist, featuring vibrant, high-energy performances mixed with stylish narrative sequences, focusing on a futuristic, sleek aesthetic. We aim for dynamic, impactful visuals that blend practical effects with atmospheric lighting. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the DP to execute lighting plans, managing the grip and electric team, ensuring safety protocols, and optimizing lighting for both studio and on-location shoots. We're looking for someone with extensive experience gaffing music videos or commercials, a strong understanding of various lighting techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You should have your own basic G&E package, including key lights, stands, stingers, and diffusion, but specialized equipment will be rented by production. Please share your reel or portfolio showcasing relevant lighting work. We anticipate a 3-day shoot in the first half of November 2026, with prep starting about a week prior. Hours will be typical 12-hour days. Production will cover catering and local transportation during shoot days. Please get your applications in by November 15, 2026.
