• Status: Independent Contractor
• Pay: $0.75–$0.90 per minute

Position Overview

The Gaddang Telephone Interpreter handles on‑demand calls, rendering the meaning of conversations between Gaddang and English speakers across a range of industries including health care, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel & hospitality, general business, law enforcement, court, and 911.

Essential Functions

• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings in accordance with established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional, calm demeanor throughout sessions and remain neutral during sensitive or emotional calls.
• Ensure punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and protocol, ensuring client expectations are met while respecting the LEP’s privacy.
• Understand and apply protocol and terminology for various industries, including medical, insurance, finance, and law.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Gaddang and English, including cultural competence and sensitivity.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note‑taking skills.
• Ability to remain detached, neutral, and focused during sensitive conversations (e.g., end‑of‑life, pregnancy termination).
• Education or work experience in language‑related fields such as teaching, assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
• Minimum age 18 years and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages highly preferred.

Independent Contractor Notice

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device (desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone).
• Operating systems: Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, or Android.
• High‑speed Internet: download ≥5Mbps, upload ≥3Mbps, ping ≤300ms, jitter ≤30ms.
• No Kaspersky or Huawei hardware allowed.
• Quiet, secure workspace free from background noise.

Physical Requirements

• Operate a keyboard and mouse in a stationary position.
• Manage all aspects of company software and systems.
• Manual dexterity sufficient for typing or writing.
• Lift up to 26lbs.
• Acceptable exposure to moderate noise levels.
