Job summary

DFAS seeks a professional in auditing and accounting to serve as a staff expert, applying GAAP and accounting policies to ensure accuracy and integrity. You will provide guidance to supported organizations and junior staff, proposing improved procedures to resolve complex issues.

The role includes assisting in new policy implementations, reviewing performance metrics, and advising on accounting operations. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 24 accounting hours (including up to 6 in business law).
• Combination of education and experience: 4 years of accounting experience plus 24 accounting hours or CPA/CIA certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides auditing guidance to organizations and staff; applies GAAP and accounting standards.
• Proposes and improves procedures to increase validity and integrity of auditing processes.
• Assists in implementing new procedures or policies for compliance with accounting requirements.
• Reviews performance indicators to assess health and effectiveness of accounting operations.
• Advises on resolving complex auditing roadblocks.
