Job summary

Empirical Corporation in Washington, DC is seeking Staff Accountants to support financial management services. The role offers growth as you learn GAAP standards, GL maintenance, and monthly close.

You will prepare financial statements, assist audits, and provide management with analyses. Requires Bachelor's in accounting or related field, 2–5 years' experience, and MS Office proficiency; government accounting experience and CPA/certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (minimum of 24 credit hours in accounting).
• 2–5 years of accounting experience, with data interpretation and analysis.
• Federal Government Accounting experience preferred; CPA candidate and/or CGFM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements and documents for accuracy and GAAP compliance.
• Maintain general ledger and record all transactions accurately.
• Perform account reconciliations and assist in monthly close with journal entries.
• Provide management with financial information through research and analysis.
• Prepare consolidated statements and support audits.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with internal and external audits with necessary documentation.
