Under direction, is responsible for providing comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling services to students in the areas of academic achievement, career and educational decision-making, and personal/social development. Acts as a consultant to staff, parents, and the community. Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements: Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Thorough knowledge of MCPS Policies and Procedures, Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program, and Program of Studies. Knowledge of adolescent development stages. Ability to interpret written materials, work effectively independently and as part of a team, use technology, and communicate effectively with groups and individuals. Excellent human relations skills are essential.
Master’s degree in school guidance and counseling from an accredited institution. Experience as a teacher and/or counselor is preferred. Meets Maryland state certification requirements for school guidance and counseling.
