Position Summary:
Provides support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom, working with individual and small groups of students, and offering clerical support to teachers and staff.
Essential Duties:
- Adapts classroom activities and materials to support classroom goals.
- Supports teachers by administering classroom assignments.
- Assists students with lesson tasks to reinforce learning and achieve academic goals.
- Communicates with teachers regarding student progress and classroom objectives.
- Maintains classroom equipment and records to ensure safety and compliance.
- Monitors students in various settings to ensure safety and positive behavior.
- Performs clerical tasks such as laminating, copying, and organizing instructional materials.
- Reports incidents and observations related to student behavior and safety.
- May assist with personal care tasks, including diaper changing, feeding, and hygiene.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including potential work at alternative sites during health crises.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One of the following:
- Completed at least 48 college credits.
- Passed the OGET test.
- Passed the Education Testing Service Parapro Assessment (score 455+).
- Workkeys Assessment with a score of 3 or better on all parts.
- Must obtain OSDE Paraprofessional Credential ($10 fee).
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and software.
- Basic math skills and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Knowledge of child development, learning styles, and age-appropriate activities.
- Ability to schedule activities, work with diverse individuals, and use job-related equipment.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work under interruptions.
- Physical ability to assist in emergencies, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform related duties.
Work Environment and Conditions:
- Office duties performed in a climate-controlled environment.
- May require work outside normal hours, including weekends, under stressful conditions.
- Physical requirements include manual dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, and ability to perform physical tasks.
