Vaughn Next Century Learning Center (“Vaughn”), located in Pacoima, is a large urban public school within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Since the early 1970s, low student achievement had been a pattern. In 1993, tired of being helpless and hopeless, Vaughn became the first conversion charter school in the nation and was authorized by LAUSD. The charter was renewed most recently in 2018. Vaughn has over 25 years of experience as a successful independent charter school serving the district’s low-income students. This previously failing elementary public school is now a full-service, community-based, K-12th charter school that assures all students are college/career ready, digitally literate, and globally competent.
Vaughn Next Century Learning Center is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and collaborative Elementary School Teacher with a valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential who plays a critical role in driving student learning and achievement. The teacher delivers high-quality, standards-based instruction across elementary content areas, ensuring all students make measurable academic and social-emotional progress through data-driven practices, differentiated strategies, and the effective use of technology. This role fosters a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment and works closely with grade-level teams, support staff, and families to plan instruction, monitor progress, and respond to student needs. The teacher actively participates in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), SSPT, and IEP processes, and demonstrates a strong commitment to high expectations, continuous improvement, and the success of every student.
