Job summary

Vaughn Next Century Learning Center in San Fernando, CA is seeking a part-time Classroom Paraprofessional Substitute (TK-1st Grade) to assist teachers and supervise students throughout the school day.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of college units or a passing score on a pre-employment test, and enrollment in college if a bachelor's degree is not yet earned. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, with strong reading, writing, and math skills.

STATUS: Part-Time, as needed
REPORTS TO: Curriculum Coordinator
SITE: Pandaland

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist classroom Teacher as directed
• Monitor & Supervise students indoors and outdoors
• Conduct student observations as needed
• Support education program through-out the school day
• Attend educational field trips as needed
• Implement classroom procedures
• Participate in all school emergency and safety plans
• Support all students in all learning activities

MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES

• High school diploma or GED
• 48 semester college units or 60 quarter college units or pass a pre-employment skills test with a score of 70% or better
• Currently enrolled in college if bachelor's degree not yet earned
• Proficient in reading, writing, and math

Qualifications: DESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Bilingual: English/Spanish
• Degree in Education or related field
• Experience working in a primary classroom setting
• Experience with small group presentations
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Experience and commitment to working collaboratively with staff, parents, and community

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• $20.00 per hour
• Sick time accrual

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Upon receiving an offer of employment:

• Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan) with the Department of Justice (DOJ)
• Must provide a Tuberculosis skin test (Mantoux) clearance within 60 days of employment
• Will be assigned mandated state training to be completed prior to the first day of employment
