Job summary

Tanque Verde Unified School District is seeking a Preschool Paraprofessional for a 10-hour-per-week position at our Arizona campus. The paraprofessional assists teachers, supports early learners, and helps manage classroom activities under supervision.

Qualifications include being 18 years or older, a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least 6 months experience with birth to age 8, and a TB test. Starting pay is $16.00 per hour; duties include safety, toileting assistance, feeding, behavior

Responsibilities

• Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts under the guidance of the teacher.
• Provides instruction for a number of students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role-playing, under the guidance of the teacher.
• Makes adaptations to material and instructions under the guidance of the teacher.
• Ensure safety of the student and be aware of and attentive to the medical needs of the student.
• Escorts special need students and relieve other aides for breaks.
• Monitors digestive process in students to ensure there is no choking.
• Assist students in toileting needs.
• Provide diapering of students as needed.
• Monitors students and advises on appropriate behavior.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• May feed students meals, snacks, and drinks.
• Provide restraint on an as-needed basis may be required.
• May perform other related duties as assigned.

• -Ability to maintain composure and to manage stressful situations.
• -Ability to calculate figures and perform mathematical applications such as discounts, proportions, percentages, etc.
• -Ability to work effectively on a computer in word processing and database management environments.
• -Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• -Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• -Ability to communicate effectively.

Starting pay is $16.00 per hour.
