Description

Title of Position: FWS - Wellbeing Ambassador

Are you passionate about mental health, promoting wellbeing, and helping your peers thrive? The Student Counseling Center is looking for enthusiastic, empathetic, and reliable student leaders to join our team. As a Student Wellbeing Ambassador , you will play a vital role in cultivating a culture of wellbeing on campus. You will help bring our wellbeing programming to life, maintain our spaces designed to promote wellbeing and connection, and serve as a friendly, knowledgeable face connecting students to a wide range of campus resources that support wellbeing, belonging, accessibility, and academic success.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Programming & Event Support
  • Assist professional staff with planning, promoting, setting up, and implementing campus-wide wellbeing programs and events (e.g., tabling, Recharges)
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members to create engaging marketing materials, flyers, or social media content to promote upcoming wellbeing initiatives.
  • Co-facilitate small-scale activities like wellbeing trivia, crafting opportunities, or care kit workshops.
  • Maintain the welcoming, clean, and inclusive atmosphere of our designated wellbeing spaces (e.g., Milky Way and Sensory Rooms).
  • Monitor inventory of wellbeing supplies (e.g., fidgets, snacks, outreach materials) and restock them as needed.
  • Greet visitors, answer basic inquiries, and ensure the space remains a calm, safe environment for all students.
3. Campus Advocacy & Resource Navigation
  • Act as a peer ambassador, actively promoting wellbeing services and counseling center resources.
  • Staff outreach tables at student orientations, resource fairs, and residence hall events.
  • De-stigmatize mental health and wellbeing conversations by engaging with peers in an open, positive, and supportive manner.

Length of employment: Full Academic Year with flexibility if needed.

Wage rate: 16.80/hr

Qualifications
General Qualifications:
  • Current Student: Must be currently enrolled.
  • Passion for Wellbeing: Demonstrated interest in health promotion, supporting mental wellbeing, stress management, fostering connection and belonging, and helping peers access campus resources.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with peers, staff, faculty, and individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Reliability and Initiative: Dependable, organized, and able to follow through on responsibilities while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to Inclusion: Demonstrated commitment to creating welcoming, accessible, and culturally responsive environments where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Willingness to Learn: Open to receiving training, feedback, and ongoing professional development related to wellbeing promotion, student support, and peer engagement.
  • Preferred but not required: Experience with event planning, peer leadership or mentoring, outreach or engagement activities, social media management, graphic design (Canva or Adobe Express), or other student leadership experiences.
