Job Summary

This position provides support for various functions within the library and archives at Cartersville Campus. Must be a current GHC Student.

Responsibilities

  1. Understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values.
  2. Provide customer service to library and archives users in person and by phone.
  3. Utilize library management system (LMS) to process borrowing and returning of library materials.
  4. Provide basic reference duties, such as answering questions on basic searching, technology, college information, directions, and similar tasks.
  5. Support and maintain the professional appearance of the library.
  6. Maintain physical library and archival materials, such as shelving, shifting books, shelf reading, and inventory.
  7. Maintain the confidentiality of all patron records for the library and archives.
  8. Provide general administrative and clerical tasks including work with scanning and computer equipment.
  9. Maintain and collect data on library and archives use as directed.
  10. Assist with archival processing including accessing and describing archival materials, preserving and conserving archival materials, and scanning and digitizing archival materials.
  11. Display creation and maintenance as well as posting of marketing materials.
  12. Assist with reference requests, creating displays, and staffing the circulation desk as needed.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent and current GHC undergraduate student.
  2. Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) currently being met.
  3. Current-Year FAFSA on file with all verifications and any other requirements complete.
  4. Currently enrolled for at least six (6) credit hours.
  5. Some prior experience is preferred but not required. Job specific training will be provided.

Proposed Salary

$12/hour

  1. No prior knowledge of archives required but need to be willing to learn.
  2. Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  3. Basic knowledge of computer.
  4. Willingness to learn job-related skills and systems including new technology, policy, and procedure.
