Job summary

The New School's InsideSchools unit is seeking a Student Assistant to support research, writing, data analysis, and community engagement for NYC families. The role contributes to school profiles, policy reports, and educational resources, working with a team to inform program development and advocacy.

Hours are 10–20 per week with a hybrid on-campus/remote schedule. The position offers hands-on experience at the intersection of education, research, and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Excellent writing and communication abilities.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
• Spanish, French, or Chinese language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write descriptions of over 1,800 NYC public schools.
• Elevate youth voices and engage migrant families.
• Support content and programming for InsideSchools resources.
• Analyze NYC education data and draft school profiles.
• Assist with workshops, outreach, and policy-focused content.
• Attend education team meetings.
