Job summary

The New School’s InsideSchools program is seeking a skilled design assistant to support the education team in NYC. The role involves creating graphics, photography, content updates, and outreach materials for K-12 resources and public school families.

Hybrid work on campus with some remote time is offered, and a work-study arrangement supports students for 2026-27. You will develop and maintain content, assist with events, and contribute to data visualization and communications efforts across

Qualifications

• Current full-time New School student with a Federal Work Study award for 2026-27.
• Interest in urban education and NYC public schools.
• Ability to create graphics for flyers, social media and websites.
• Experience with CMS (Contentful, Wordpress) and productivity/design tools (Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Spanish, French or Chinese language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Describe over 1,800 NYC schools' profiles and content.
• Elevate voices of students and engage parents.
• Collect input from school communities to guide content.
• Develop resources supporting families in K-12.
• Support partnerships and training with schools and organizations.
• Take photos, edit images, draft captions and release forms.
• Update InsideSchools site, suggest design enhancements.
• Create marketing content: emails, social copy, graphics, flyers.
• Assist in data collection: surveys and analytics.
• Answer questions from families and monitor inquiries.
• Help plan events and focus groups; attend meetings.
