Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Network Engineer to support the Fort Wainwright MTC, focusing on integrating simulation and C4I systems, and managing classified and unclassified networks for exercises.

You will handle RMF Certification activities, coordinate with multiple training units, and ensure secure, robust network operations in a challenging Arctic environment.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in network architecture design, implementation and management.
  • Experience with RMF Certification & Accreditation processes preferred.
  • SEC+ and DoD 8570.01-M Level II, CCNA preferred; TS clearance possible.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, implement and oversee classified and unclassified MTC networks.
  • Manage networks owned by external organizations (NIPR, SIPR, tactical).
  • Coordinate design with training sites and external organizations.
  • Design network architecture and assist with equipment installation.
  • Install, configure and secure networks and devices.
  • Document and update network configurations and plans.
  • Plan encrypted connections for external entities supporting simulations.
  • Monitor network performance and perform backups and recovery tests.
  • Ensure doctrinal compliance and update requirements as needed.
  • Participate in special projects.

Job description

Network Engineer – Fort Wainwright Mission Training Complex (MTC)

GDIT seeks a qualified Network Engineer to support technical integration between simulation and C4I systems, establishing and maintaining training and exercise networks, and executing Risk Management Framework (RMF) Certification and Accreditation activities at the Fort Wainwright MTC. Your work will strengthen the readiness of the Nation’s Army in the Arctic.

Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, implement, and oversee classified and unclassified MTC WAN/LAN networks supporting voice, data, and video services for exercises and events.
  • Manage MTC use of networks owned by external organizations, including NIPR, SIPR, tactical networks, and others as required.
  • Coordinate network design, requirements, and responsibilities with other MTCs, training sites, training units, and external communications organizations.
  • Design network architecture, develop network plans, configure equipment, and assist with installation of equipment and circuits supporting distributed exercises.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and secure networks and associated devices.
  • Configure, document, test, troubleshoot, and update network documentation for internal simulation networks, including Cisco firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Apply system updates, quarterly patches/IAVAs, SRG/STIGs, configure access control lists, and analyze or modify network devices and software to meet user and system requirements.
  • Plan, develop, and execute encrypted network connections to external entities supporting constructive simulation exercises; provide timely troubleshooting and resolution for network issues.
  • Monitor network performance and conduct scheduled backups and recovery testing.
  • Review and update network requirements for accuracy and doctrinal compliance.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: BA/BS Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in network architecture design, implementation, and management; MTC experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced knowledge in network planning, troubleshooting and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of network hardware and software components.
    • Strong understanding of LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, firewalls and security, storage and backup methodologies.
    • Ability to apply RMF methodology and the Certification & Accreditation process.
    • Experience applying network patches and STIGs and performing other RMF cybersecurity tasks.
  • Certifications: SEC+ required; DoD 8570.01‑M Base CE Level II (IAT II), CCNA (preferred).
  • Clearance: Secret current clearance required; ability to obtain Top Secret.
  • Experience: Tactical networks at division level or higher; experience with Microsoft server platform, Cisco routers and switches, MSPP, MPLS, BGP configurations.
  • Knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto, WireShark, SolarWinds product lines.
  • Location: On customer site with moderate travel throughout Pacific AoR.

Salary Range: $81,349 - $101,200; salary will be based on experience, geographic location and contractual requirements.

Work Location

USA - AK Fort Wainwright. Travel required: less than 10%. Telecommuting options: onsite.
