MercyOne in Des Moines is launching the JumpStart RN Program to help nursing students transition into their first RN role before graduation. You will receive monthly financial support during the final months of your nursing program while preparing for licensure.

This program places you in a high-pace Neuro Trauma Acute Care Unit with top‑tier stroke and neurology care, working with an interdisciplinary team and leading clinicians. It offers a pathway to a full-time RN position after graduation.

From acute stroke interventions to complex surgical neurology cases, you’ll work with cutting‑edge technology, remote telemetry and a tight‑knit interdisciplinary team that thrives on collaboration and excellence.

You’ll also partner with MercyOne Ruan Neurology Care, central Iowa’s largest and longest‑running comprehensive neurology clinic. Their experts use the newest research, innovative technologies and active clinical trials to create individualized treatment plans for conditions affecting the brain, spine and nerves. With seamless collaboration across Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, and Pediatric Neurology, our patients receive coordinated, world‑class care at every stage.

How the JumpStart Program Works

Apply to an open RN position in the specialty or unit that interests you.

Interview with nursing leadership.

Receive a job offer and sign a JumpStart agreement.

Your position will be reserved for you until after graduation.

Eligibility

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program
• Expected graduation within approximately 9 months
• Eligible to work as a Registered Nurse upon successful completion of the program and licensure requirement

Financial Support

Participants receive monthly payments beginning with their JumpStart agreement and continuing through one month after graduation, for a maximum of 9 months.

This support is designed to help nursing students focus on their education while preparing for a successful transition into professional practice.

After Graduation

• Submit NCLEX and Iowa Board of Nursing fee receipts for reimbursement
• Complete the NCLEX-RN examination and obtain RN licensure
• Transition into their full-time Registered Nurse position
• Begin their nursing career with a team committed to professional growth and development
