Job Summary:

The Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides clients with personal care and homemaker/companion services according to an established plan of care, enabling them to remain in their residence.

Essential Functions:

1. Personal Care: Assists with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail/skin care, back care, foot care, shampoo, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercises, safe use of equipment and assistive devices (wheelchair, walker, crutches, cane), changing positions, toileting, commode, incontinent care, meal planning, preparation, and feeding assistance.
2. Companion/Sitter/Household Management: Provides companionship and respite services; performs homemaking activities such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping/mopping, dishes, changing linens, laundry, and bathroom cleaning.
3. Medication Reminders: Reminds clients to take medications as prescribed.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Successful completion of a state-approved Personal Care Aide course
• At least six months of experience as a Personal Care Aide (in homes or facilities)
• Good standing on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry
• Minimum score of 80% on the Home Health Aide competency exam
• Passes the DEARS Ethics test
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as required for the role
• Valid driver's license, insured vehicle, or access to reliable transportation
