Job Summary:

The Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides clients with personal care and homemaker/companion services according to an established plan of care, enabling them to remain in their residences.

Essential Functions:

• Personal Care
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, nail/skin care, back care, foot care, shampoo, oral hygiene, ambulation, transfers, range of motion exercises, safe use of equipment and assistive devices (wheelchair, walker, crutches, cane), changing positions, toileting, commode, incontinent care, meal planning and preparation, and feeding assistance.
• Companion/Sitter/Household Management
  • Provide companionship and respite for families.
  • Perform homemaking activities such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping/mopping, doing dishes, changing bed linens, laundry, and bathroom cleaning.
• Medication Reminders

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Completion of a state-approved Personal Care Aide course.
• At least six months of experience as a Personal Care Aide (in homes or facilities).
• Good standing on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry.
• Score at least 80% on the Home Health Aide competency exam.
• Pass DEARS Ethics test.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, or access to transportation.
