Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. in Houston seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support marine construction projects, including wharves, trestles and piers.

You will work daily with the Project Manager to ensure schedule, cost, quality and safety are managed for timely project completion. A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field and at least 3 years of marine construction experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 3 years' construction experience on marine projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction principles and practices.
• Advanced knowledge in planning and executing self-perform work.
• Experience in managing field staff and building relationships with owners.
• Geographically mobile and able to relocate within a region.
• Strong work ethic and team-oriented approach.
• Demonstrated track record of jobsite safety excellence.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager in chart of accounts, CPM schedule, subcontracts and purchase orders; produce a responsibility listing for staff.
• Provide administrative support to the Project Superintendent and training to staff and engineers.
• Track and process Change Proposals, Change Orders, and Owner Payment Applications and, if applicable, claims.
• Monitor job costs, prepare quantity reports, analyze labor costs, and complete quarterly profit records.
• Assist in leading on-site Total Quality Management processes.
• Manage the preparation and execution of the Project closeout process.
• Implement all applicable safety programs.
