USAA is offering a Finance Future Leaders Internship that provides exposure to multiple finance functions, hands-on projects, mentorship, and regular feedback. The program aims to develop future finance leaders through real‑world experiences and structured learning.

The internship will be based at USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX, or Charlotte, NC, with rotational assignments of about 10 months each and a summer start for 2027 graduates.

The Opportunity

This opportunity may lead to selection into a two-and-a-half-year development rotational program following graduation.

The Finance Future Leaders Program has the goal to develop future finance leaders with a broad understanding of finance functions, strong technical skills, and strategic thinking ability through mentorship, training modules, regular and timely performance feedback, and stretch projects that focus on driving business improvement and efficiencies. Rotations follow specific curriculum components that will build skills across key finance areas. Each rotational assignment is approximately 10 months.

The internship will be based either at the USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX, or Charlotte, NC, based on business needs.

What you’ll do:

Under direct supervision and following risk and compliance procedures and guidance, you will perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members tasks, including the following:

  • Within defined guidelines and frameworks, uses financial principles to solve business problems while performing forecasting, planning, and financial modeling related to income, profitability, liquidity, capital, leverage, asset and liability management or operating expense.
  • Supports preparation of recurring or ad‑hoc financial reports and analysis or cost benefit analysis to support internal and external management decision‑making.
  • Under supervision, contributes to the preparation of advised, proactive analysis to enable effective decision‑making and efficient resource utilization.
  • Identifies and handles existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensures risks are optimally identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Ensures all activities are completed within regulatory and compliance guidelines.
What you need to have:
  • To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2027 internship will start on June 2, 2027 and last through August 13, 2027. Graduation date cannot be prior to August 13, 2027.
  • 0 to 2 years of related experience and accountability for simple to moderately complex tasks and/or projects required.
  • Experience conducting financial/accounting research and producing reports.
  • Effective written, communication, presentation and computer skills including proven understanding of Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Foundational knowledge of data analysis and relevant technical accounting/finance competence.
What sets you apart:
  • Academic concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Economics or related field.
  • Graduation date in Spring 2028.
  • Prior relevant financial internship experience.
  • Experience with financial statements, balance sheets, and/or Excel.
Compensation range:

The salary range for this position is: $25 - $33 . Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
