Job summary

Glassboard, a hardware product development firm in Indianapolis, seeks an Industrial Designer to craft innovative, functional, and visually compelling products. You will collaborate with engineers, PMs, and clients to translate concepts into manufacturable designs.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in industrial design, strong 3D modeling and rendering skills, and a user-focused mindset. The role emphasizes collaboration, prototyping, and production-ready documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in industrial design; experience in a consulting or product development firm is a plus.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, SolidWorks, KeyShot, and Rhino.
  • Strong 3D modeling and rendering skills.
  • Exceptional sketching, ideation, and storytelling abilities.
  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomics.
  • Highly collaborative with a user-focused approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to take feedback and iterate quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Concept development: generate creative design solutions through sketching, rendering, and 3D modeling that align with project requirements and user needs.
  • Prototyping: create physical and digital prototypes to test ideas and validate concepts.
  • Collaboration: work alongside engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet performance specifications.
  • Client interaction: present ideas, concepts, and designs to clients, incorporating feedback into iterations.
  • Research: conduct market and user research to inform design decisions, keeping up with industry trends and materials.
  • Design for manufacturing: develop production-ready CAD models and documentation for handoff to manufacturing partners.

Job Summary
