A Training Specialist is responsible for providing training and instruction to internal staff and customers on the proper procedures and techniques of HDPE fusion, squeeze-off, and other technical subjects. This role involves, updating, and conducting training programs, as well as assisting field operations when needed. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality training and technical assistance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- 1.Conduct training classes to diverse groups of participants, ranging from beginners to experienced professionals.
- 2.Deliver engaging and interactive training using various teaching methods.
- 3.Update training materials, including presentations, manuals, guides, and tests.
- 4.Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of training content.
- 5.Collaborate with sales team, customers, and supervisor to tailor training programs according to specific needs and requirements.
- 6.Administer tests and operator evaluations to gauge participants comprehension.
- 7.Provide constructive feedback to participants.
- 8.Prioritize safety during training classes, especially during hands‑on portion of class.
- 9.Maintain accurate records of training, attendance, tests, evaluations, and certification cards.
- 10.Ensure equipment used during training is properly maintained, calibrated and in good condition.
- 11.Keep work area, company vehicles, and equipment clean.
- 12.Operate company vehicles and equipment, such as pickup trucks and forklifts.
- 13.Mobilization support, as needed, of company equipment.
- 14.Assist and support field operations as needed.
- 15.Ability to perform fusions on HDPE pipe and fittings per industry standards.
- 16.Ability to operate a fusion data recording device.
- 17.Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 1.Must be 18 years of age or older.
- 2.Must provide a valid driver’s license.
- 3.Ability to pass safety and fusion training courses and maintain certifications.
- 4.Must be able to legally work and reside in the United States.
- 5.Must pass background and drug screening.
- 6.Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- 7.Ability to read and follow technical instructions.
- 8.Knowledge of software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and technology such as phone applications.
- 9.Generally, 0 to 2 years of technical or related experience.
- 10.Professional image, attitude, and ability to work well with others.
- 11.Must complete all McElroy Operator Qualifications within 6 months of employment.
- 12.Must possess or be pursuing McElroy Certified Instructor certification.
- 13.Must be factory certified in electrofusion within 6 months of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- 1.Office/shop environment with commuting to other branches when needed.
- 2.Travel to various customer offices/jobsites throughout the U.S.
- 3.Speaking, publicly.
- 4.Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, up to 10 hours daily.
- 5.Ability to work safely outdoors in extreme (hot/cold) weather conditions.
- 6.Ability to walk safely in uneven, slippery, and muddy conditions.
- 7.Must be able to wear required PPE as assigned by HSE.
- 8.Occasional travel to job sites that could require overnight stays.
- 9.May at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection.
- 10.Must be able to climb onto raised trucks, trailers, or platforms, and into below grade excavations.
- 11.Will be subject to other physical activities required to include, stooping, climbing, bending, crouching, kneeling, walking, reaching with arms, push/pull 50 pounds, and lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
