Job description

Summary:This is a skilled labor position that is directly responsible for becoming certified and proficient in performing various types of fusion of components for Plastics Fabrication Department.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Required to understand and follow all safety proceduresRequired to understand and follow work procedures as set forth by all ISO, ASTM, and DOT documentationRead and interpret blueprints whenever required by operationRequired to be certified to perform fusions on various diameters and SDRs of PE Pipe and fittings. Fusions include up to three (3) of any combination of: manual butt fusion, electrofusion, or socket fusionRequired to pass annual fusion re-certification examinations in order to remain qualified for this positionClean, label and box products in department as neededResponsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employeesRequires regular attendance per the GFCP Attendance Policy and the schedule assigned by supervisorRequired to understand and follow all company policies and procedures at all timesRequired to meet or exceed production standards of all work centers dailyRequired to maintain quality standards on all products daily including in process testing log sheetsAssemble components as required by work instructions and SOPsMust be able to verify that all fusion equipment is in good condition and performing as designedOther duties as assignedSupport and participate in the overall EH&S programsAdhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OHSAS 18001 certification requirementsRequired Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environmentRequired to be or become ceritifed in various plastic fusion processes ( manual butt fusion, electrofusion, or socket fusion) within 90 daysAt least 45 days of manual PE fusion experienceThorough, accurate, and works error freeAble to select the proper component parts required for a work centerAdvanced knowledge of all fusion machines in the departmentMust be able to understand and utilize measurement tools that are specific to that area or productMust have good attendance record and employment in good standing (no final warning or suspension)May not have 3 or more non-conformances during a rolling 12 month period to qualify for this roleEducation and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalentWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements:Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production areasMust be able to lift 50 lbs. in a safe mannerClarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast and repetitious operation for extended period of timeExposure to heavy equipment or components needed to produce product (safety toed shoes required)Exposure to sparks, chips and dust (eye protection required)Must be capable of maintaining a 40-hour workweek and working overtime as neededMust be able to perform repetitive motion.
