Job Summary
Fusion Tech III delivers high‑quality HDPE piping solutions, performing specialized fusion operations, responding to critical repair needs, and ensuring every installation meets safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine appropriate fusion method and equipment for pipe installation.
- Provide and install custom HDPE piping and repair systems.
- Perform butt, sidewall, socket, electro‑fusion, and extrusion welds.
- Inspect and maintain fusion equipment.
- Communicate with customers to assess needs and identify installation/repair requirements.
- Ensure final product meets quality control standards.
- Transport equipment to job sites and operate field equipment and forklift.
- Serve as on‑call for 24‑hour repair emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience as an HDPE Fusion Technician or comparable role.
- Knowledge of HDPE fusion processes, equipment setup, quality standards, and safe operating practices.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repairing fusion equipment and components.
- Electrical aptitude for diagnosing common electrical issues with fusion equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, operating procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and commitment to safe work practices.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and, if required, a commercial driver’s license (CDL) with applicable DOT endorsements. Ability to obtain and maintain the required CDL within a specified period after hire.
- Capability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials in accordance with company safety standards.
- McElroy equipment training and/or certification.
- Current HDPE fusion certifications from recognized industry organizations or manufacturers.
- Experience in underground utility, pipeline, natural gas, water, wastewater, telecommunications, mining, or construction‑related industries.
- Additional industry‑specific safety, equipment, or operator certifications.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Pass pre‑employment assessment(s).
- Successfully complete and maintain all required training and certifications, including HDPE fusion, OSHA, and MSHA Part 48 training.
- Meet all DOT medical certification requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight on a consistent basis as required by business needs. This includes supporting field operations, attending manufacturer training, and fulfilling other job‑related responsibilities.
Environmental Job Requirements
- Environment with regular exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
- Continuous physical exertion such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
