Job summary

CoreMain seeks an experienced welding technician to operate equipment that fuses polyethylene pipe and to travel to multiple job sites. The role requires driving a company vehicle 20% of the work week and an acceptable MVR for selection.

You will support custom electric and butt-welding HDPE piping systems and maintenance tasks on-site. The position requires coordination with customers, adherence to quality welding procedures, and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable.
  • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Job Summary

Operate equipment that fuses polyethylene pipe. This position requires operating a company vehicle to and from various job sites consistently for more than 20% of the average work week. An acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report will be required for selection.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Determine appropriate method and equipment for welding specialized thermoplastic polyethylene pipe.
  • Provide and assist in custom electric and butt-welding HDPE piping systems and repair of these systems.
  • Communicate with customers to assist with their needs.

Nature and Scope of Work

Analyze complex and unusual problems and work through them. Select correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practice, or instruction. Seek advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by supervisor. Under close supervision, use limited latitude for independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior co-worker and/or supervisor.

Work Environment

Generally a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness. Requires overnight travel and stay 10–15% of the time. Requires intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable.
  • High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in electro-fuse and butt welding or structural welding.
  • Knowledge and experience in service and operation of McElroy fusion equipment.
  • Diesel engine and electronics background.
  • Preferred Class A or B CDL license.
  • Job site construction experience.
